Jaime Silahua - Antioch, CA

Silahua just received a 30-day extension before eviction from his home in Pittsburg, CA where he and his family have lived since 2002.  Silahua, who fell behind on his payments after his teenage son was diagnosed with leukemia in 2007, requested a hardship modification from his lender - U.S. Bank - but was denied because his income fell just short of what he needed to qualify.

Rev. Lucy Kolin - Brentwood, CA

Rev. Kolin has been an active clergy leader on PICO's national campaign to stop 3 million preventable foreclosures.  In February, Rev. Kolin, together with other PICO members, met with White House staff to discuss President Obama's foreclosure prevention plan.  Rev. Kolin felt the sting of both the foreclosure and economic crises when her daughter's family lost the home they were renting in Brentwood, CA after the landlord lost the property to foreclosure. Soon afterwards, her daughter lost her job due to the recession, and now she, her husband, and their 4-year-old son, are living with Rev. Kolin until they can get back on their feet.

Berenice Ramos - Antioch, CA

Ramos lost her home in Antioch, CA in November 2008 after fighting for more than a year to modify her loan. Every offer the bank made her family increased their monthly payment. After spending their life savings, including putting numerous payments on credit cards, Ramos arranged three separate short-sales of her home, but the bank still refused to work with her.
